He was predeceased by : his parents, Matthew P. Swanson and Sylvia V. Dyson Swanson; and his siblings, Connie E. Ohlwine, Marjorie Swanson, Mary Alich, Velma Benesh, Leota Christenson, Bob and Raymond Swanson.

He is survived by : his wife Brenda G. Swanson; his son Barry Swanson (Donna); his grandchildren, Donny L. Swanson and Brittany M. Swanson; his great grandchild Matthew L. Swanson; and his siblings, Hazel Buikema (Ted) and Richard Swanson of Morrison.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Carmel Baptist Church (2100 Mooresville Rd, Salisbury, NC 28147). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
