He was predeceased by: his parents, Bobby Cunningham and Frances Cunningham; his sister Annette Cunningham; his brother-in-law Sammy P. Costner; and his in-laws, Minnie Mae Anderson and Woodrow James Anderson.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Anderson Cunningham; his children, Allen Nelson Cunningham, Jr. (Meghan), Philip Anderson Cunningham and Jessica Jayne Cunningham (James Gorman); his grandchildren, Nelleigh Cunningham, Allen Nelson "Tripp" Cunningham, III and Collins Cunningham; his sister Charlotte C. Costner; and his siblings-in-law, Gloria Jane Anderson and Dennis Anderson.
