He was predeceased by : his father Robert Short; his wife Dixie Edgerton Short; and his sons, Michael "Mike" Short and Jerry "Wayne" Short. He is survived by : his children, Robert "Gene" Short (Teresa) of Goldsboro and Cathy Short (Jerry Maley) of Goldsboro; and his grandchildren, Angela Wolford (Chris), Jay Short, Stephanie Parks (Linwood) and Rebekah Short (Samantha). He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
