She was predeceased by : her parents, Hubert Edward Nickens, Sr. and Helen Pate Nickens; and her brother Hubert Edwards Nickens, Jr.. She is survived by : her husband Samuel S. Parks; her children, David Joe Parks (Erika) of Cape Coral, FL and Angela Parks Floars (Johnny) of Goldsboro; her grandsons, Randy Floars of Newberry, SC, Carl Floars of Boynton Beach, FL, Adrien Floars of Goldsboro and Joseph Parks of Cape Coral, FL.; her caregiver Tina Brooks; and her pet Jingle Bells.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 8th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Seymour Funeral Home (1300 Wayne Memorial Dr, Goldsboro, NC 27534). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 8th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in her memory to Gentiva Hospice, 2309 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, Adamsville Baptist Church, 1302 N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro, NC 27534 or the charity of one's choice.
