She was predeceased by : her parents, Ernest L. Newton and Deloris W. Edwards Newton. She is survived by : her husband Amos Artis Jr.. She is also survived by children and other loving relatives and friends.

Viewing was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the St. James Christian Church (1739 M. L. K. Jr Pkwy, Wilson, NC 27893). A celebration of life was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (164 Longs Plant Farm Rd, Goldsboro, NC 27534).
