David Benton Mitchell Sr. Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of David Benton Mitchell Sr. of Goldsboro, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 28, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his siblings, Pauline Faircloth, Yvonne Evans, L. E. Mitchell and Leon "Doodle" Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Kay Evans Mitchell; his sons, David (Amy) and Brian; his grandchildren, Hunter, Abby and Brayden; his pet Muffin Mitchell; his parents, Levi Edgar and Esther Beasley Mitchell; and his sisters, Joyce "Tootsie" Cooke and Carol Mitchell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rosewood First Baptist Church (562 NC-581, Goldsboro, NC 27530). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery (3888 US-70, Princeton, NC 27569).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rosewood First Baptist Church, where Benton was a faithful member, and/or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
