He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Jones and Dorothy Smith Jones; his brother Wayne Jones; and his grandson Zakery Vernon. He is survived by: his wife Sarah "Sadie" M. Jones; his daughters, Tracy Vernon (Ronnie) of Pikeville, Michelle Lancaster (Eddie) of Pikeville, Paula Kramer (Steve) of Wilmington and Jennifer Jones of Pikeville; his brother Bobby Jones of Pikeville; his sister-in-law Laura Jones of Pikeville; his grandchildren, Preston Vernon (Karen), Hannah Bartlett (Reece), Hope Holmes (Joshua), Dustin Strickland (Jessica), Katie Joyner, Austin Whitman (Amanda) and Noah Whitman; and his pets, Bella and Biscuit. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Howell Funeral Home & Crematory (1500 Wayne Memorial Dr, Goldsboro, NC 27534). A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Howell Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel (1500 Wayne Memorial Dr, Goldsboro, NC 27534).
