We announce the death of George Joyner of Goldsboro, North Carolina, who passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 87. George will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Joyner and Lizzie Jackson Joyner. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Toole Joyner; his children, Royce Eugene Joyner (Rosemary Nunn Joyner) of Goldsboro and Cynthia Joyner Powell of Selma; his grandchildren, Andrew Bryce Joyner of Charlotte, Christopher Ryan Powell (Heather) of Four Oaks and Christina Powell Kemp (Ashley) of Middlesex; his great grandchildren, Calla Rae Powell, Paisley Grace Kemp, Camellia Rayne Powell and William Michael Kemp; and his siblings, Mary Lou Raynor of Fayetteville and Roy "Eugene" Joyner of Newton Grove. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church (341 Black Jack Church Rd, Goldsboro, NC 27530). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Black Jack Grove F.W.B Church in his memory.
