John Merritt Lear Peacock Obituary
We are sad to announce that on July 12, 2025, at the age of 73, John Merritt Lear Peacock (Goldsboro, North Carolina) passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John Merritt Lear Peacock to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Howell Peacock, III and Robin Lear Peacock; and his sister Anna Christy Peacock. He is survived by: his wife Ellen Mulinix Shipman; his children, Robin Dawson (Michael Dawson) and Haley Dempsey (Bryan); his grandchildren, Aleeze, Merritt Dawson, Jack and Banks Dempsey; his siblings, Robert Howell Peacock, IV, William Ellery Peacock (Gregory Tyler) and Sarah Stansbury Peacock (Thomas Clay); his stepchildren, Benjamin Shipman, Carolyn Shipman and Heather Fett; and also, Eric William Klein, Dillon Snyder, Genevieve and Spencer Fett. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (200 N James St, Goldsboro, NC 27533). Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 11:45 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to Green Acres, a local civic group in Goldsboro where John was a faithful member. To donate in his honor, please make checks payable to Green Acres, and in the memo write, "John Merritt Lear Peacock.".
