She is survived by: her husband Michael Shafer; her children, Etta Wheeler (Brian) of Haughton, Robert Shafer and Michael "Shafer" Jr. (Jennifer) of Goldsboro North Carolina; her grandchildren, Moriah Provost (Aaron), Michael C Shafer (Hannah) and Ethan Shafer; and her great grandchild Declan Provost.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
