He was predeceased by: his parents, George Christian Shafer and Gladys Irene Cannon Shafer; and his brother Gary Shafer. He is survived by: his wife Joan Bishop Shafer; his sons, Robert Eugene Eaton (Heather) of Rochester and James MIchael Bishop (Mikayla) of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Peyton, Nicholas, Jazlyn, Declan Eaton and Daisy Mae Bishop; and his siblings, Carol Williams of Florida, James Shafer of Goldsboro and Wayne Shafer of Goldsboro.
