He was predeceased by: his father James Lamont Herring Sr.; and his brothers, Jimmy Herring and David Herring. He is survived by: his wife Sara Stevens Herring; his children, Tyler Steele Herring of Grantham and Cristyl Herring Hood (Scuttie) of Grantham; his siblings, Jon Esten Herring of Florida and Vivian McIntosh (Mack) of Dudley; his grandson Cuyler Shane Jones; and his pets, Rex and Shiloh.
