She was predeceased by: her parents, Andrew Thornton and Tempie Boyette Thornton; her husband Walter Lee Vaughn, Jr.; her grandson Phillip Vaughn; and her brothers, Wilber Thornton, Leon Thornton, Kenneth Thornton and Hubert Thornton.
She is survived by: her sons, Walter Lee Vaughn, III (Catherine) of Dunn, Andrew Phillip Vaughn (Dee) of Lakeland, Bobby Gene Vaughn (Sharon) of Faison and Mark Anthony Vaughn of Faison; and her sisters, Sybil Jones of Selma, Daisey Oursler, Hazel Thornton and Mildred Lollis. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Piney Grove Baptist Church (1818 N McCullen Rd, Faison, NC 28341). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
