With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Alice Joyner of Graham, North Carolina, born in Macclesfield, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 19, 2025 at the age of 96. She was predeceased by: her parents, Rufus Edge and Lula Belle Jones Edge; her spouse Willie Joyner; and her siblings, James Newton, Rufus Edge, Paul Edge, Joseph Edge and Frances Cox.
She is survived by: her children, Veronica Willette Joyner-Johnson (Broderick) of Graham and Darrell Quintin Joyner; and her sisters, Dorothy Ruth Hart (Thomas) of Suffolk, Virginia, Mattie Vernice Graham (Harry) of Rocky Mount and Gloria Tene Edmonds (Lorenzo) of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 29th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Blackwell Funeral Home (1292 Rauhut St, Burlington, NC 27217). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (508 Apple St, Burlington, NC 27217).
