He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Thompson and Maude Holt Thompson; and his brother Dewey Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Vicky Payne Thompson; his children, Chris Thompson (Sandi) and Stacey Thompson Swidzinski (Sean); his grandchildren, Nicholas Arthur Thompson (Lauren), Christopher Scott Thompson (Savanna), Christian Grant Thompson, Hunter James Swidzinski and Halle June Swidzinski; his sisters, Betty Price and Sarah Phillips; and his brother-in-law Dennis Payne (Sandy). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Cedar Cliff Methodist Church (4683 Cedar Cliff Rd, Graham, NC 27253). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to support Cedar Cliff Methodist Church, Graham, NC or Grace Chapel, Burlington, NC.
