She was predeceased by: her spouse Belvin Webster Melton; her parents, Johnny Wesley Dawson and Ethel Baldwin Dawson; her siblings, Johnnie W. Dawson and Janet Dawson Allen; her grandson Josh Blevins; and her stepson Rodney Melton.

She is survived by: her children, Lisa Melton Turbeville of Graham and Belvin E. Melton (Catherine) of Mebane; her sister Betty Dawson Clark (James) of Greensboro; and her grandchildren, Chastity Hill, Wes Turbeville, Shelby Turbeville, Laura Miller and Adam Blevins. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
