Barbara Hamby Poovey Obituary
With sadness, we share the passing of Barbara Hamby Poovey of Granite Falls, North Carolina. Barbara, born on December 3, 1934, passed away on October 2, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carlos E. Hamby and Ruth Parlier Hamby; her husband Harry E. Poovey; her daughter Deliliah "Lori" Lorane Chapman; and her siblings, Carlos "Sunny" Hamby, Wayne Hamby, Linda Gilbert and Belvia Myers.
She is survived by: her children, Carlos E. Poovey of Granite Falls, Harry C. Poovey (Brenda) of Hickory, Teresa Canella of Granite Falls, Edmund Poovey of Granite Falls and Charles Poovey (Tammy) of Granite Falls; her sisters-in-law, Louise Hamby of Granite Falls and Judith "Carol" Hamby of Granite Falls; and her son-in-law Bill Chapman of Morganton. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens (1545 Orchard Dr, Lenoir, NC 28645).
