He is survived by : his wife Gayle Lail McRary; his son Jeffrey Todd McRary (Diana); his stepdaughter Tamara Annas McRary (Richard McRary); his brothers, Danny Fairchild (Jane), Jerry Fairchild (Darlene) and Richard (Rick); his grandchildren, Karly Frizsell (Taylor), Dylan McRary, Cody McRary and Alyssa Storie (Matt); his great grandchildren, Sadie Frizsell, Kallie Frizsell and Dekata Turner; his nieces and nephews, Ricky Settlemyer, Melissa Porter, Jamie Keller, Natasha DeMaio and Richard Fairchild II (Becky); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jordan Settlemyer, Jamie Porter and Richard Fairchild III; and his sister-in-law Regina Roberts Fairchild.

A funeral service was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Dudley Shoals Baptist Church (1882 Dudley Shoals Rd, Granite Falls, NC 28630).
