He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman Bedford Starnes and Minnie Bell Starnes; his daughter Deborah Starnes Whitener; his siblings, Thelma Hildebran, Wayne Starnes and Dale Starnes; and his grandson Dusty Ferrell.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Louise Sears Starnes; his children, Terry Eugene Starnes (Terry) of Granite Falls and Katrina Starnes Ferrell of Granite Falls; his siblings, Peggy Starnes Huffman of Hickory and Bedford Starnes of Granite Falls; and his grandchildren, Wyatt Starnes, Whitney Starnes, Kyle Whitener, Shana Shivel and Courtney Keller. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
