David will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Though David is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. David’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Murthia Smith and Ruth Hartsoe Smith; and his sisters, Infant Bonnie Smith and Elizabeth Ann Sumpter. He is survived by: his wife Esther Key Smith; his sons, Tim Smith (Karla) and Danny Smith; and his grandson Eli Price. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (352 Central St, Hudson, NC 28638). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the St. John's Lutheran Church of Hudson (352 Central St, Hudson, NC 28638).
