He was predeceased by : his parents, Perry Herman and Maude Smith; his wife Miriam Herman; and his daughter Donna Farmer. He is survived by : his daughters, Angela Franklin (Dale) and Vivian Speagle (Joseph).

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Rhodhiss (200 Park Ave, Rhodhiss, NC 28667). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
