He is survived by : his son Douglas Birtwistle (Amy) of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Emily, Lexie and Charlie; his siblings, Robin Little (John) of Granite Falls, Susan Boothe (Tim) of Hickory and Stan Sturgess (Sharon) of Hickory; his nieces and nephews, Wendy Stone (Rodney) of Granite Falls, Bayle Stone of Granite Falls, Kristin Blackwell (Keith) of Conover, Brandon Little (Tish) of Charlotte, Mandy Rominger (Clint) of Hickory, McKensi West (Treigh Triplett) of Lenoir, Nick Boothe (Autumn) of Aberdeen, Emily Warick (Michael) of Charlotte and Lisa Branock (Edward) of Hickory; and his close friend Jeanne Whisnant of Granite Falls.
