It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Virgil McRay Hicks (Granite Falls, North Carolina), who passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Arney Hicks and Pearl Harmon Hicks; and his siblings, Claude Harmon, Lewis Hicks, Ruth Hicks Shook, Maxie Hicks Ward Brown, Don Hicks and Carson Hicks.
He is survived by: his wife Deloris Vance Hicks; his sons, Brent Hicks (Monica) of Statesville and Todd Hicks (Priscilla) of Dudley Shoals; his sisters, Cora Jane Shore of Raliegh and Kathy Harmon Bolick of Hickory; his grandchildren, Cynthia, Cody, Katie, Bella, Bryson, Essie and Lilly; and his great grandchildren, Ava, Tatum and Willow.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Freedom Independent Baptist Church (2224 Satterwhite Cir, Granite Falls, NC 28630). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Keep Virgil's legacy alive by donating to a charity in need.
