He was predeceased by : his parents, Luellabel Groome and Cicero Hunt Groome Jr.; and his close friend Joan Hipp. He is survived by : his friends, George and Philip; his pet Oreo; his children, Tiffany Clark (Steven) of High Point and Travis Atkins of Greensboro; his siblings, Marcia Groome of Salem, MA and Tim Groome (Jean) of High Point; and his granddaughter Aaliyah Atkins of Stokesdale.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to Northwest Guilford High School Marching Band, or Groometown United Methodist Church.
