He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Kiah "Buddy" Byrd and Euba McGee Byrd; and his wife Judith "Judy" Ann Freeman Byrd. He is survived by: his children, Dean Byrd (Michelle) and L. Ann Byrd; his grandson Landon Dean Byrd; and his siblings, Wanda Jane Byrd Duncan (Fred), Joy Lane Byrd Barefoot (Larry), Medwick Byrd (Loretta), Col. Reece Byrd and Col. Harold "Cronin" Byrd (Judy). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at McConnell Road Baptist Church, 3911 McConnell Road, Greensboro, NC 27406.
