He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward Abbey and Florence Slocum Abbey; his wife Jeannie Spiller; his siblings, John Abbey and Betty Lawson of Texas; his children, Diana Switter (Jeff) of Raven, VA, Patty Loecher (Todd) of Conover, NC and Brent Abbey (Dee) of Graham, NC; his grandchildren, Esther Mabe, Joshua Switter, Christina Galvin, Michaella Crouse and Matthew Abbey; his great grandchildren, Abbi, Jilian Mabe, George, Max Galvin and Levi Crouse; and his brother William Abbey. He was also cherished by five grandchildren, followed by five great grandchildren.
