He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Welker and Rosa Mae Welker; his stepdaughter Tina Lemons Jones; and his siblings, Thomas "Fuzz" David Welker, Brant Welker, Jerry Welker, Steven "Pete" Welker, Margaret Jo Welker and William "Bill" Robert Welker.
He is survived by: his wife Gale Orr Welker; his children, Danny Welker (Sharon) and Cathy Welker (Terry); his stepson Christopher Lemons; and his siblings, Barbara Barton, Mary Cox, Judith Nell Welker, Betty Knebel, Claudia Sue Myers, Angie Welker Reaves, James "Jim" Claude Welker, Jack Lawson Welker, John Eugene Welker and Richard "Porky" Earl Welker. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the George Brothers Funeral Service (803 Greenhaven Dr, Greensboro, NC 27406). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Brightwood Christian Church (300 Brightwood Church Rd, Gibsonville, NC 27249).
