He is survived by: his wife Lois Miller; his daughter Amy Schmiemann (Kurt Schmiemann) of Durham, NC; his siblings, Cassandra Hamsher, Sally Hilibert (Clyde) and David (Sharon); and his close friend Joseph Ingold. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was President of the Host Lions club and received the Melvin James Fellow award for dedicated humanitarian Service by the Lions Clubs International Foundation.
