He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Douglas Gilbert and Rubye Louise Barnett. He is survived by: his wife Patti; his daughter Eliza Gilbert of Hoboken, NJ; his stepdaughter Elizabeth Hudgins (Patrick Cronin) of Raleigh; his siblings, Joe (Lillie Robinson) of Virginia Beach, VA and Emily Jean Gilbert (late Randolph Jones) of Bethlehem, PA; his stepgrandson Aidan Cronin-Hudgins; and his former wife Beth Glass.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (607 N Greene St, Greensboro, NC 27401). A reception will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Special Occasions Room at Well-Spring Retirement Community (4100 Well Spring Dr, Greensboro, NC 27410).
