He is survived by: his wife Alice Davenport Charles; his son Malcolm Enrique Charles (Nicole); his grandchildren, Emma Charles (Will Jewell) of Richmond, VA, Ethan Charles of Greensboro and Isabella Charles of Shelby, NC.; and his siblings, Roberto Charles (Pia), Annie Charles and Helen Charles.
