He was predeceased by: his parents, Mattie Sue McClure Cox and Boyce Cox; and his brothers, Kenneth Cox and Gary Cox. He is survived by: his wife Nellie; and his sisters, Linda Sue Wallace (Clyde Watson) of South Carolina and Rebecca Looper (James Looper) of South Carolina.
