He is survived by: his children, Howard Max Surratt, Jr. and Julie Surratt King (Brad); his grandchildren, Alexis Surratt Blackwell (Jordan), Abigail Surratt Beach (Bobby) and Zachary Ethan Surratt; and his sister Betty Jean Harrison.
