It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Daniel Chavis of Greensboro, North Carolina, who passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Chavis and Willa Locklear Chavis; his siblings, James Chavis, Reatha Jacobs, Millard Chavis, Harlis Lee Chavis and Emma Mae Locklear; and his son-in-law Billy Clark.
He is survived by: his daughters, Debbie Atkins, Deanna King (Richard) and Patsy Clark; and his grandchildren, Jason Atkins, Mitch Atkins (Madison), Taylor Atkins (Rubi), Matthew King (Megan), Maegan Sampson (Don), Veneshia Strickland (Steve), Kelly Chavis (Garrett) and Cindy Jacobs (Eric). He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the George Brothers Funeral Service (803 Greenhaven Dr, Greensboro, NC 27406). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at the Lakeview Memorial Park (3600 N O. Henry Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27405).
