He was predeceased by: his mother Emily Barnes. He is survived by: his father Jesse Barnes; his wife Helen Barnes; his son John Barnes (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Isabella, Eloise and John Barnes of Greensboro; his siblings, Timothy Barnes (Mary Ann) of Savannah, GA and Martha Barnes of Bluffton, SC; his sisters-in-law, Anne-Marie Sparrow, Elizabeth Robertson (Al) of Atlanta, GA, Louise Freeman of Athens, GA and Loretta Flowers (Tom) of Columbus, GA; his family, Ue Mio and Jer Nie; and also, Mois, Giu and Lysa Nie (Skut Ayun). He is also survived by three nieces and nephews and a great niece.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (607 N Greene St, Greensboro, NC 27401).
