He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Benjamin Rather and Gracie McRae Rather; and his siblings, Mary, Luther and Annie Lois Thompson.
He is survived by: his sisters, Hazel Davis (Dennis) and Ethel Rather Bullard. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends.
