He was predeceased by : his parents, Vernon Eckerd and Bernice Eckerd. He is survived by : his wife Pat; his children, David Eckerd (Monique), Paul Eckerd (Robin) and Rebecca Page (Chuck); his brother John Eckerd (Barbara); his grandchildren, Hannah (Ken), Sarah (Evan), Naomi, Bethany (Travis), Anna, Caleb (Braeley), Sean and Rowan; his great grandchild Liza; his nephew Morgan (Shawnda); his great-nieces, Drew, Bryn and Sage; and also, Mike and Susan Blankenship.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 310 S Tremont Dr, Greensboro, NC 27403.
