We are sad to announce that, on December 12, 2025, at the age of 79, Melvin Chandler Wofford of Greensboro, North Carolina, born in Spartanburg, South Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though his name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Melvin leaves upon the hearts of his loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of his spirit and the richness of his legacy.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Louis Mayo Wofford and Loree Siebert Wofford; his wife Martha Jones Wofford; his grandsons, William Chandler and Deacon Richard Shoener; and his brother James "Chip" Wofford. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
Purple is the official color of Alzheimer's awareness, symbolizing dignity, wisdom, and a unified front in the fight against Alzheimer's disease….and happens to be Mel's favorite color.
