He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Charles Lewars and Iris Jean Lewars (Osborne). He is survived by: his wife Christina Lewars (Koletar); his daughter Alexis R. Lewars; his sister Dusti Lynne Morton; and his stepmother Robin E. Lewars.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Goathouse Refuge (https://www.goathouserefuge.org), a no-kill cat sanctuary located in Pittsboro, North Carolina, in Mitchell's honor.
