She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Carson Peterson and Nancy Myatt Peterson; her husband Dr. H. Richard Hensel; her brother Ken Peterson; and her sister-in-law Judy Peterson.
She is survived by: her sons, Bryan Hensel and Steven Hensel (Carolyn); her grandchildren, Katie Hensel Osorio (Luis) and James Hensel (Kathleen); her sister Mary Beth Petersen; her niece Mary Carson Smith; and her nephew Allen Smith (Virginia).
After graduating from Salem College with a Bachelor of Music in piano, she taught piano at Fries Memorial Moravian Church and assisted in the establishment of the Moravian Music Foundation in May, 1956.
