He is survived by : his parents, Lydian Bernhardt of Greensboro and Phillip Averitt; his sister Caroline Averitt (Brandon Suther) of Cary; his girlfriend Jordan Lacy Wren of Roanoke; and his grandmothers, Helen Averitt and Judy Hayes Bernhardt. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Fellowship Hall or SPCA of the Triad, in Peyton's name.
