She was predeceased by: her parents, Lewis Vernon and Margaret Wall Vernon; her husband Robert Lee Slate; and her sister Barbara Vernon Gray. She is survived by: her daughter Michele Slate; her sister Linda Plummer (Grey); her grandsons, Ethan and Erik Cox; her brother-in-law Rex Gray; and her niece Sabra Harrelson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Forbis & Dick Funeral Service – Stokesdale Chapel (8320 US-158, Stokesdale, NC 27357). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Flat Rock United Methodist Church (6720 US-158, Stokesdale, NC 27357).
