He was predeceased by: his parents, Varnell Ralph and Eufra Virginia Simmons Morgan; his sister Jerry Stott; his wife Barbara Ann Williams Morgan; and his grandson Justin Sharpe.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Taylor Woods (Tyler), Jessie Sears (Matt), Samantha Morgan, Morgan Cantrell, Eric Cantrell and Ben Cantrell (Claire); his great grandchildren, Ellie Woods and Aidyn Sears; his close friend Sharon Baldwin; his daughter Sheila Godwin; his grandson Brandon Godwin (Juno); his great grandchildren, Ryder Godwin and Luke Butler; Eric Morgan (Jackie) of Greensboro, Jane Sharpe (Tim) of Asheboro, Ann Cantrell (Bruce) of Greensboro, Ed Morgan of Greensboro, Regina, Barbara and Jessica.
