Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Richard Maxwell of Greensboro, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 91, on June 11, 2025. He was predeceased by: his parents, David John Maxwell and Francis Smalley Maxwell; his siblings, Mary Maxwell Kinkead, Nancy Maxwell Patterson and David John "Jack" Maxwell; and his daughter Catherine Maxwell.
He is survived by: his former wife Martha Joe Padgette; his wife Martha "Marty" Maxwell; his brother Donald Maxwell; his daughters, Susan Starr (Frank), Sandy Smith (Roy) and Page Weethee (Chip); his former wife Martha Gelzer; his grandchildren, Max Perkins (Cameron), Ross Perkins (Sarah), Parker Starr (Virginia), Taylor Starr, Andrew Smith (Rachel), Martha Helen Smith, Eric Smith (Rebecca), Tyler Smith (Natsuki), Jordan Weethee (Chloe), Will Weethee (Chloe) and Alexandra Valaik (Nate); and his great grandchildren, Maxwell, Robert, Andy Perkins, Matthew, William, Audrey Perkins, Joseph, Emma Smith, Catherine, Carl Smith, Eva, Luke and Virginia Valaik.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Forbis and Dick Funeral Service (1118 N Elm St, Greensboro, NC 27401). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 17th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (617 N Elm St, Greensboro, NC 27401).
