He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Boon Smith of Greensboro; his children, Jennie Laurent (Carl) of Greensboro, Randy Smith (Cathy) of Raleigh and Amy Fleming (Jim) of Tallahassee, Florida.; his grandchildren, Sam, Christy, Eric, Julie, Brad and Mary; and his great grandchildren, Hudson, Madeline, Hadley, Jack, Lacy, Shep and Willow.
