He was predeceased by: his parents, William F. Hartsell and Margaret H. Hartsell; and his nephew Gordon Freeman. He is survived by: his children, Ashley Hartsell Karlsten (Markus) and Grant Hartsell (Sarah); his sisters, Billie H. Freeman (Duff) and Jill G. Hartsell; his granddaughter Alessandra Karlsten; his nephew Taylor Freeman (Anna); and his great-nieces, Isabella Gordon, Anna Ricks and Lucy Fuller Freeman.
