He was predeceased by: his son Thomas Benton Waugh (Elizabeth Hanner Waugh). He is survived by: his daughter Pam W. Pizza (Pat); his granddaughter Joy H. Bouquin (Todd); his great grandchildren, Cole and Brenner; his grandson Robert T. Hines (Kate); his great grandchildren, Ethan, Wes and Will; his great great grandchild Kennedy Grace; his close friend Jo Ann D. Shaw of Greensboro; Taylor. He is also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews.
