He was predeceased by: his father Charles Odell "Pat" Patterson; and his wife Carolyn Routh Patterson. He is survived by: his children, Phillip Brinton Patterson (Adrienne) of Greensboro and Melissa Patterson Sherrill (Karl) of High Point; his grandchildren, Anna Kate Patterson, Lane Brinton, Spencer Dale and Margaret "Maggie" Olivia Sherrill; his stepgrandsons, Daulton Rogers and Jarrod Rogers; and his sisters, Sondra Patterson Chriestenson of Park City, KS and Mary Patterson Congrove (Benny) of Hastings, NE. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
