He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard C. Rierson and Lucy Simmons Rierson. He is survived by: his siblings, Colan Rierson and Susan Gauldin (Keith). He is also survived by two nieces, one nephew, a great-niece and three great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Humane Society of the Piedmont at 4527 West Wendover Avenue, Greensboro.
