He is survived by : his brothers, Woodrow (Woody), Milton (John Wesley) and Edward (Tom); his children, Karen Alicia Newton of Cary, NC, Phyllisha Snow of Holly Springs, Eric Samuels (Jenna) of Sanford, NC, Richard Newton of Port Jervis, NY and Tony Newton of Phillipsburg, NJ.; his siblings, Mary Moore of Grifton, NC, Eleanor Gaskins (Raymond) of Matthews, NC, Lois Reese of Greenville, NC, Bertha Newton of Winterville, NC and Billy Ray Newton (Sherilyn) of Greenville, NC.; and his grandchildren, Donovan, Azaria, Briana, Eric, Jr., Kage, Peyton, Quasyne, Richard, Tony, Rakim, Zarya, Dante, Noah, Michael, Reilly Newton, Brenda Pegues, Tikeyia Pegues and Dajours Pegues. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Don Brown Funeral Home, Inc. (497 SR Second St, Ayden, NC 28513).
