He was predeceased by: his parents, Issac Levi and Dora Williams Hedgepeth; his son Todd Michael Hedgepeth; his siblings, Dorothy "Dot" Matthews, Beaulah Dickens, Lillian Ball (Christopher), Lois Hux (Ellis), Lathan Hedgepeth (Peggy), Roger Hedgepeth (Jean Anne), Ray Hedgepeth, John Hedgepeth (Ruby) and Rupert Hedgepeth (Ruth); and his son-in-law R. J. Hoggard, III.
He is survived by: his wife Starlette Joyner Hedgepeth; his daughters, April Measamer (Jonathan) of Ayden, NC and Amy Tillery (Ken Tillery, Jr.) of Halifax; his grandchildren, Jasper Hoggard, IV, Chase Hoggard (Ashley), Holden Hoggard, Sarah Weeks, Katie Cockrell and Titus Tillery; his great grandchild Sawyer Hoggard; his sister Peggy Bishop of Bahama, NC; and his brother-in-law Eugene Joyner of Greenville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A reception will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services (731 Roanoke Ave, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870).
